Save the date for ICMJ Virtual Careers Expo

University students and young industry professionals have the chance to kickstart their career in the red meat industry, with the Intercollegiate Meat Judging (ICMJ) Association to host its first virtual careers expo on July 10.

The careers expos are immensely popular features of ICMJ’s annual conferences at Charles Sturt University in Wagga Wagga, and CQUniversity in Rockhampton. However, as a result of coronavirus restrictions forcing the cancellation of its conferences and workshops, ICMJ has shifted to digital delivery to ensure students and young industry professionals can continue to access meat science training and networking opportunities.

ICMJ careers expo coordinator Rozzie O’Reilly said the careers expo would include both a professional development session to enhance the employability of students entering the workforce, as well as video meetings to connect students with prospective employers. “The ICMJ careers expos really are a flagship of our program evidenced by over 40 industry companies attending our career events each year to ‘cherry pick’ the best of Australia’s agriculture, veterinary and agribusiness graduates from across 12 Australian tertiary institutions,” Ms O’Reilly said.

Students wishing to participate and companies seeking to recruit the red meat industry’s next generation of leaders should register their interest by completing the online survey at

ICMJ will release details of the digital careers expo platform and online registration form closer to the event.
